  • What Are Our Tableware Made From?

    What is bagasse?

Sugarcane bagasse is also known as sugarcane pulp. The characteristics of sugarcane bagasse fibers can naturally entangle together, forming a tight network structure and making biodegradable containers. This new type of green tableware is not only as sturdy as plastic and can hold liquids, but also cleaner than biodegradable products made from recyclable materials, which may not be completely deinked. This new material partially degrades after being left in soil for 30 days and completely degrades within 90 days.

    The advantages of bagasse tableware

    Natural and safe material

Bagasse is mainly derived from the by-products of sugarcane left after sugar production. Since it has undergone the strict food safety tests in the food processing plant, the chemicals, heavy metals and pesticides in bagasse is far below the standard value. As a kind of natural plant fiber, bagasse can be used to produce healthy and food-grade tableware.

    High quality assurance

Since the high quality of sugarcane bagasse fiber, the tableware made of it is also strengthful. Besides, experimental results have shown that bagasse tableware has strong flame retardancy and is not as prone to catching fire as plastic. Additionally, its oil and water resistance are also very good, which is in line with the requirements of cutleries.

    Mitigation of climate change

Our tableware comes from sugarcane, which is a C4 carbon dioxide fixation plant with a special photosynthesis mechanism that allows carbon dioxide to be used more efficiently and reduces water consumption in the process. Compared with C3 carbon dioxide fixation plants, such as wheat, rice, etc., sugarcane can adapt to arid areas and absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide during its growth. Hence, bagasse tableware can eventually convert carbon dioxide into organic carbonin the way of compost and store it in the soil.
